The values of our school

Our school is built on three fundamental pillars that guide all of our educational and teaching practices.

1. Academic Focus: Excellence in Education and Strong Bilingualism

We follow the French curriculum, complemented by the MIE program for English, to give our students a genuine opportunity to become bilingual in French and English.
Small class sizes are a key pillar of our approach: they allow for differentiated education that is attentive to each child’s needs, learning pace, and individual characteristics.

At Jeanne Barret Primary School, we firmly believe that a child’s education is a collective journey. The saying “It takes a whole village to raise a child” perfectly captures this vision: a child thrives thanks to a strong network of connections—family, teachers, their environment, and the entire educational community.

The adults at the school play a central role in creating this educational environment. They commit to building a trusting relationship with the students by being available, consistent, and reassuring.
Our professional approach is grounded in humility: adults learn every day just as much as the children. They do not embody excessive authority but serve as a guide, a pillar, capable of acknowledging their mistakes, apologizing when necessary, and demonstrating respectful behavior by example.

We reject all forms of adultism or authoritarianism. On the contrary, we favor a fair authority based on listening, dialogue, understanding child development, and leading by example.
In this way, children grow up in an environment where human relationships are built on mutual respect, trust, and authenticity.
